Tackling Topic Sentences

When writing a body paragraph, it is critical that you tell your reader what the topic or focus of your paragraph is. Often, the topic sentence comes at the beginning of the paragraph, but, if done correctly, it can be placed at the end, as well. It is also important to tie the topic back to the thesis. How does the reason you are providing support your claim or belief?

NoRedInk has some great opportunities to practice identifying topic sentences and their relationship to the thesis.
