This year, we have the joy of being big buddies to the Preschool 1 and 2 classes.
We think we are perfectly paired for a number of reasons, including… our numbers:
Preschool 1 (10 students) + Preschool 2 (19 students) = Grade 4 (29 students)
Today, we got to meet and spend time with our buddies in the preschool classrooms. Mr. Matthew and Mrs. van der Merwe had planned some wonderful exploration and community building activities that allowed us to get to know our buddies and support them in learning. Clay, blocks, puzzles, chalk, books…. and more were made available for our first meeting. Self-control and selflessness were a key qualities we tried to model during our time together. Needless to say, smiles were abundant.
We are especially excited about this coming week because we are scheduled to see our buddies at least 2 (maybe three) times during Congo Week. How wonderful to be able to bond over the beauty and bounty and beats of the Congo. We are looking forward to acquiring more KNOWLEDGE about the dance, stories, art, and food of this incredible country… TOGETHER.
